Military Order of Tampa Spartan

The Order of Tampa Spartan medallion is the highest and most prestigious award given by the Tampa Spartan Battalion Alumni Association. The medallion is presented annually during the University of Tampa Alumni Weekend. Qualified nominees must have completed studies at least 10 years prior to the awarding. Nominees should demonstrate a history of significant service and support to the University of Tampa and/or UT Army ROTC Spartan Battalion; professional achievement or distinguished military service; and/or service to society through civic engagement or volunteer efforts. Nomination should identify examples in each area. All three areas will be evaluated and considered equally in determining exemplary achievement; however, there may be valid and compelling reasons for individuals to be deemed worthy of consideration based largely on exceptional achievements in one or two areas that exceed levels attained by even the most accomplished or heralded Military Order of Tampa Spartan recipients.

Nominations for the Military Order of Tampa Spartan are accepted throughout the year. However, they must be received by August 1 to be considered for presentation during the next UT Alumni weekend. Nominations received after that date will be held for consideration the following year. Once an individual is nominated, he/she will be considered for 3 years but must be re-nominated to receive consideration following that period.
